You can't buy one of these. Had to make one to press the bolts out with but still had to use the air hammer with a chisel to get things moving.
The splines in the driveline slipped and the vibration worked the transmission mounting bolts loose. Broken bolts + stripped threads = new flywheel housing.
Well, 6 hours, a cutting torch, air hammer, broken 3/8" drive impact universal (I used the 3/4 gun on it), 4-ton port-a-power, and a fire extinguisher later... I finally got those bolts out of the engine mount. I learned that sometimes a simple task that should take 2 minutes can sometimes turn into a 6 hour ordeal. And all of this after I pulled the truck in to fix a coolant leak.
That's really cool (great pictures too) : )! Maybe I'll learn something : )....
ReplyDeleteP.S. You can probably tell who this is by the over-use of smiley faces : ).
Nice user name!
DeleteYeah, thanks : )! Pretty creative, huh? I had to comment using my email and I guess they just must've given me an odd name to protect my privacy. Oh well : ).
